You probably already know that diet and exercise are essential if you want to lose weight and maintain a healthy lifestyle. But there’s one fundamental piece of the puzzle that’s frequently forgotten: your metabolism. It’s really important to understand what your metabolism actually is — what it is responsible for and how important is your metabolism in weight loss.

What is metabolism and where most people go wrong

The metabolism process is basically how much your body converts the energy (calories from food and liquid intake) into disposable energy. The more active you are, the more energy you will need and the more food you’ll have to consume.

This is where most people go wrong. They follow a calorie diet they got from Google, but do not take into consideration their level of activity. If you have an office job, sitting all day, and then going home to lie on the couch for hours… you need to get more active if you want to eat the amount of food that you do! At our EMS fitness studios in Dubai, along with the training, you will also get a personalized nutrition plan for weight loss, that will include foods that provide all essential nutrients, vitamins, proteins, fats, carbohydrates and fibers that your body needs. This will help you achieve your goals faster, whether you want to lose weight faster or improve your physical condition.

The importance of metabolism in weight loss

If you don’t know this already, the rate of your weight loss is directly connected to the speed of your metabolism. Faster metabolism = faster weight loss. As simple as that. One way to speed up your metabolism is to eat more healthy food (consume more calories from the good foods). This will force your body to burn more energy (calories) and this leads us to the next point.

If you want to lose weight, you have to be in a deficit when it comes to calorie intake. This means that you have to get less calories in than you actually use. This is the only way your body will dig into the reserves and burn the unwanted stored body fat. How do you do this? The answer is also simple, calorie deficit.

Start your day with this and there is NO way you will not lose weight

Wake up 1 hour earlier (it’s not that hard, if you really want to get in shape, this is the easy part) and do some steady state fasted cardio. Go walk on the beach for 45 min or if you prefer to stay indoors, walk on the treadmill at home for 45 min.

It’s important to understand that this has to be steady state. Keep your heart rate between 60-70% of your maximum (max = 220 – age). If you manage to keep it there for 30 minutes or more, your body will enter fat burning zone.

Now, doing this in the morning on an empty stomach means your body will have to use the reserves to get energy to keep you going. Later in the day (2-3 times per week) add other type of training to your program. This is really important because it will help you tone and when the fat is stripped away you will already have laid the foundation for an amazing beach body.

People have the willpower to change, but they are not always sure how to actually get there. Just stick to the basics. No need to over complicate things or rush it. And remember, this is not going to happen overnight. It takes time.
